Introducing: AI-Generated Image Metadata in Labrador CMS

Labrador CMS now auto-generates multilingual captions, alt text, and tags for new and existing images, speeding up editorial work while keeping humans in control.

Published Modified

Our latest release introduces AI-powered metadata generation for images. The system analyzes uploaded images and creates captions, alt text, and tags automatically.

How it works

Upload an image and click the purple wand icon in the metadata fields. The AI generates suggestions based on visual analysis of the image content. Generate multiple alternatives if the first suggestion doesn't fit your needs.

The system supports multi-language generation. Specify your target language to create metadata for international editions without overwriting existing content in other languages.

Automatic alt text generation

Enable automatic generation of Alt text in your admin settings. Once activated, every uploaded image receives AI-generated alt text by default. Editors review and adjust as needed before publication.

You can also customize the AI's output by providing specific instructions in admin settings. This ensures the generated metadata matches your publication's profile.

Updating Existing Images

The feature works with your existing image library. Search for any image, click edit, and generate metadata retroactively. The interface remains consistent across new uploads and archive updates.

Technical requirements

  • Labrador CMS v38 or later. Official release is the 13th of January 2026.

  • Labrador AI admin access for configuration

Implementation notes

AI-generated metadata requires human review before publication. The system provides suggestions that editors verify and modify as necessary. This workflow maintains editorial control while reducing repetitive data entry.

Proper image metadata improves accessibility for screen readers, strengthens SEO performance, and enhances social media sharing. The AI handles baseline generation while your team applies editorial judgment.
